Deborah Findlay will star as The Nurse, alongside Jessie Buckley and Josh O’Connor in the titular roles, in a new approach to Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet.
Turning The Lyttleton theatre into a film set, following the planned stage play being stood down due to the Coronoavirus pandemic, The National and director Simon Godwin have created a one-0ff film in it’s place.
The cast also includes Tamsin Greig, Fisayo Akinade, Adrian Lester and Lucian Msamati.
Romeo and Juliet, produced by The National Theatre, Sabel Productions and Cuba Pictures will premiere at 9pm on Sky Arts on Sunday 4 April, repeated on 5 and 8 April. It will premiere in the US at 9pm Friday 23 April on PBS.
